Fantasy Books...Club
Every third Saturday at 1 pm (via Zoom) a little group of folks who love fantasy novels meets to discuss that month’s chosen fantasy book. LitYoungstown hosts this gathering, and I absolutely love it.
So far this year the book selections have been Split Infinity (Piers Anthony)...His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass (Philip Pullman)...Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire (George R.R. Martin)...and Elantris (Brandon Sanderson). Coming up will be A Modern Faerie Tale (Holly Black).
I had never read anything by Brandon Sanderson (and I have never read anything by Holly Black), and that’s part of the fun of this little book club. Plus, the people who participate are terrific...retired professors; current professors; and regular, book-loving people like me. I also love that this book club meets via Zoom, which opens up the possibility of people attending from anywhere. As it catches on, I anticipate that the group will become more robust, and that will be terrific for our conversation.
Please join us! The meetings last only an hour, and we are a genial group! Here is a link to sign up...
