StoryCorp Archive
On August 30th, 2009, went with my daughter and recorded an interview. After many years, that interview has been added to the StoryCorp Online Archive. Wonderful project and to listen to all the stories recorded over the years.
“The StoryCorps Archive comprises one of the largest born-digital collections of human voices, featuring conversations recorded across the United States and around the world. The full collection is housed at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.”
WORKSHOPS
Workshops are 5 weeks long—held once a week in 2-hour sessions—for a total of 10 hours.
My poetry-writing workshop goals are to guide students as they…
Learn about a variety of poetic forms
Discuss ways to approach the reading and interpreting of poems
Discuss (and put into practice) the process of revising poems
Read and discuss poems by a variety of contemporary poets
Respond (in writing) to *Ink Shed prompts
Write a minimum of 1 poem per week (Free Verse)
Conclude workshop with a poetry reading by students
*Ink Shed is a term coined by my mentor and fellow poet, Maggie Anderson (author of Dear All, and other poetry books). It is a kind of “shedding” of ink from your pen. There are no correct or incorrect answers; these exercises are intended to encourage students to think about writing—and poetry—in tactile and tangible ways. It is expected that students will write in complete sentences, use correct grammar and punctuation, and employ generally good writing practices. The workshop leader will respond to all Ink Sheds with comments on content as well as structure.
