Social Media Guru

Writing is the most satisfying part of creating poetry. Reading my finished poems (which, actually, are rarely completely “finished”...I can tweak a poem for years) is good, too. My friends always seem to be receptive to hearing my poems time after time.

But marketing my work is challenging. And tiring. And endless. And necessary.

Thankfully, I have a Social Media Guru who helps me navigate these unfamiliar waters. Without her, I would barely know how to begin to promote my poems and books. With her, I reach people who are interested in my work. She is amazing; she is my daughter: R.E. Anderson (Lysa).

Specifically, what does she encourage, champion, and support?

➢ Blog posts with photos https://www.pamelaranderson.org/

➢ Instagram @prandersonpoet (photos and, more recently, reels)

➢ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pam.anderson.poet/

➢ Twitter

And other stuff. Weekly meetings in which she reviews my analytics...creation of promotional postcards for mailings about my poetry books...creation of all three of my poetry chapbook covers (the first two—Just the Girls: A Kaleidoscope of Butterflies; A Drift of Honeybees (Poetry Box) and Widow Maker (Finishing Line Press)—with artist (and my niece) Meredith Balogh)...creation and set-up of illustrations for my book of poems for children (The Galloping Garbage Truck (Kelsay Books)... promotion online and in print of my poetry readings...advice for Zoom readings...strategy for future books...and much more.

PLUS...right now...she is working on illustrating my newest book of poems (more information to come soon!).

This talented young woman also holds a day job and, as a freelancer, creates window displays for independently owned small businesses in the little town where she lives. Flying books made from folded paperbacks...pumpkins and floating stars made from paper bags...calligraphy signs...giant cartoon characters (The Grinch!)...tissue paper/pipe cleaner hyacinths, daffodils, and tulips...winged key mobiles and broomsticks...and more.

She is amazing and has made a huge positive difference in the ways in which I approach this important part of the writing and publishing process.
