Deckside Yoga

Yoga has been a life changer for me. The three things that I hoped to accomplish when I began to practice in 2015—improved balance, greater flexibility, more strength—became a reality. When I began a daily practice in 2017, I gained a deeper connection to my physical practice. In 2022, I started to incorporate Kundalini Yoga, which has been a surprisingly wonderful addition.

During the pandemic, I leaned on YouTube videos for my practice (Yoga with Adrienne...Sara Beth Yoga...Brett Larkin). They were helpful, but I sorely missed going into the studio at my “home base”: One Love Yoga in Kent, Ohio.

Being a cautious person—and with family members whose health demanded a certain level of restraint—I continued to avoid One Love Yoga, even after I was doubled vaccinated. BUT...in mid-2021, I discovered their Zoom yoga practices (which they had been doing throughout the pandemic); it was another “game changer.” Anne...Tim...Michelle...Amanda...Flory...John...Eric...Kim...Heidi...Treva... Marie—each teacher brings something special to Vinyasa Flow, Slow Flow, Yin Yang, Basics, Chair Yoga, Moderate, Strength Training. Plus, I can practice with One Love Yoga when I’m out of town. Perfect.

With the arrival of spring, I have added another dimension to my daily One Love Yoga practices: “Deckside Yoga.” I take my laptop onto the deck at my house and practice with a lake view, the sounds of birds, whistles announcing nearby freight trains, and a perfect breeze. Even when I finally feel comfortable returning to the studio with, I know I will continue to Zoom with One Love Yoga. And I’ll be deckside for the remainder of the spring, all summer long, and well into the fall.
