Books I Read in 2022

It is the end of November, and I’ve now read 50 books this year (more accurately, my Goodreads list shows that number although I know I did not post every book I read this year). Of those, 7 were re-reads —5 were nonfiction—several were poetry books—several were young adult—and a handful were fantasy. I now have 3 or 4 more queued up for my December reading pleasure.
Did I love them all? No.
Did I love many of them? Yes!
My favorites? In no particular order...
Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Fresh Water for Flowers by Valerie Perrin
Honor by Thrity Umrigar
Ink Black Heart, The (Cormoran Strike, #6) by Robert Galbraith
Marriage Portrait, The by Maggie O’Farrell
Rattle & Numb: New and Selected Poems, 1992-2019 by John Burroughs
A few special notes:
*I will read anything written by Maggie O’Farrell!
*John Burroughs—now our U.S. Beat Poet Laureate—is an amazing poet!
*I loved, loved, LOVED Honor by Thrity Umrigar.
*I tend to listen to the audio version of books, which can be a little “uneven”...depending on the narrator and the complexity of the book. With a “book-book,” I can easily flip back a few pages to remind myself of characters or plot lines, etc. It is not as easy if I am driving or walking and listening to an audio book.
*Margaret Atwood is still my favorite author.
*Barbara Kingsolver (another favorite) is coming out with a new book next year!
*Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid came along at a perfect time for me...I loved it!
*Jennifer Ann Shore is my favorite Young Adult author.
*I want to be transported away from “real life” when I read. Thus, I’m not a big fan of nonfiction. That said, the nonfiction books I read this year were great.
