On Saturday, April 9 at 5 pm EST, I will be Zoom reading (with poet/photographer Debbie Hall) from my book of poems for children: The Galloping Garbage Truck (Kelsay Books). Please join me/us!
The entire show will be approximately 40 minutes, and it will be a wonderful way to share the joy of poetry and books with your children and grandchildren.

What an honor for me to read with Debbie. Her book—In the Jaguar’s House (The Poetry Box)—is as gorgeous as it is fun and interesting, with each poem accompanied by one of Debbie’s photographs. Take, for example, “A Raucous Caucus of Macaws”...
They swoop down
onto a tree outside our window
and shout:
WAKE UP! WAKE UP!
Blindingly beautiful brilliant
and blue
they screech:
WE’RE HERE! WE’RE HERE!
That poem includes a photo of two Hyacinth Macaws, which adds special interest for little readers and adults alike. Plus, the end of the book includes “Fun Facts about These Animals.” The things I have learned! Did you know that Hyacinth Macaws are the largest parrots (by length) in the world? Or that they can mimic human speech? Now you know!
Debbie and I are grateful to Shawn Aveningo-Sanders and The Poetry Box for hosting this reading. And we both look forward to sharing our poems with you and your family.
